Updates

I’m still buried under two enormous grant deadlines for Thursday, but I wanted to share a couple random thoughts and links.

There is a powerful new article up by Doc Searles about saving the net that is a must read – it was certainly an eye-opener for me, and I thought I already knew how things worked. After you digest that, he’s expanded on his thoughts in his save the net post, an equally good read stuffed with links to other smart folks thoughts on the matter. It was enough to get me to write my representative – if it moves you to do the same, do share.

The New York Times continues its fascination with blogs while continuing to fail to offer tools for bloggers to use. Meanwhile, The Washington Post is promoting the ability to create mashups. Personally, I think the whole Post / MSN / Newsweek decision to integrate technorati tags was brilliant, even if it hasn’t been drawing large volumes of traffic to individual blogs – it certainly enriches the base content of the paper.

While wandering I ran across Revver, which promises to share revenue back to people who upload and tag their videos or have an affiliate relationship to distribute them – with the rising interest in television and video online, I think this is a concept with some promise. Standard disclaimer, though – I don’t know the company and haven’t used them yet, so your mileage may vary. Still, it’s an interesting concept that I think has real promise.

This is an interesting lesson on basic podcasting – I am still looking for a good tutorial for v-casting, though.

I’ll be back soon – hope everyone had a great holiday.

I’ve been somewhat keeping track of the blogs that are linked to in the online edition of the NTY, and I really don’t see why DDOQ couldn’t be one of them one day. ;)

Oh absolutely – I just hope I get the server stabilized first ;)

Seriously, though, DDOQ will catch the limelight soon enough I suspect – after all, you’re gorgeous, clever and can actually write. That’s a hat trick right there. I think the carnival and the book will push you over the top; you just stay focused on doing what you’re doing so well and it’ll happen when it should.
