Dog Days

I’ve been avidly following Darlene’s saga of the puppy palace, laughing the whole time.

Like gardening, pets have become big business. Whole sites have sprung up online devoted to supplying their every desire – can you tap into those markets? People with a passion spend a large portion of their discretionary income on their passionate interest – if you can find out what they’re looking for, you can leverage that into an instant source of revenue. Some of the niches that look like obvious opportunity to me:

  1. Species specific training tutorials
  2. DIY Grooming and care
  3. Massage therapy and other health / wellness solutions
  4. Photography
  5. Custom prints and cards

People with passions also tend to have problems – by joining and participating in a community, you can learn first hand what those problems are and find solutions to sell them.

There’s just got to be something someone can invent for easier cat hair clean up!

I totally agree – dog hair, too. I think my dog sheds his weight each season and it gets all over anything. Hey, how about clothes that repel pet hair? That would be another useful innovation. Anyone listening out there?
