The Authentic Eccentric

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this site and I’m sorry about that. I haven’t been idle, however, and I thought I’d share some of what I’ve been doing and reviewing since I last posted.

Last week, I finally had a chance to eat at Positive Vibe Cafe here in Richmond. If the site is down, you can read an excellent article on their project here. Not only did I have a great meal but the entire experience was great - as a former restaurant owner myself, I heartily congratulate the staff on creating a wonderful customer experience. It wasn’t just the mission; the food was well prepared, promptly delivered and tasted great - and I’m already planning my return visit.

I’ve also been working with Zosia at Intelligirl Jewelry Maker to help spread the word about their sustainable employment endeavor. She has a unique and achievable vision for helping other people with disabilities find meaningful employment and has come a long way already with her site and concept. I’ve also had some very productive meetings with the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services about our new business incubator for entrepreneurs with disabilities. We will begin offering classes in September and I have high hopes that DRS will support allowing some of their clients to participate. So far, overall response has been great and I’m looking forward to a full class of students.

In other updates, I’m delighted to announce that Jen has broken the 500 a day unique visitor mark; she shot right past 400 within days of us setting the goal. Darlene has also been burning up the airwaves lately - Protect Your Good Credit has been getting pounded with people requesting her free report on protecting yourself against Identity Theft. I am learning a lot from her blogs, proof that you can indeed teach an old dog new tricks.
